GAH!!!! In the interest of full disclosure, a month after I wrote that scene, I read Issue #65 of "The Walking Dead" and watched Rick do almost the same thing to the cannibals that took Dale. But ... ours was cooler. Oh, I now have to get the Vertigo series. (edit) oh... and looks like Andy Diggle beat me to it be five years. Oh well.

Yeah, I agree, the HG World scene was superior. A lot more tension and a lot more intelligent dialogue than it looks like occurs in this. I guess the movie "Crank" (or "Crank 2," not sure which) did it, too! I understand this happens all the time. Things germinate in the "collective unconscious" and pop up in different places... One logistical problem with the HG World scene occurred to me in retrospect... I may not be remembering the scene correctly, but am I right in thinking that the way the HG World scene went was that McInnes pulled his virtual trigger finger and the sniper fired instantly? It just occurred to me to wonder if this would work, because the sniper would have to focus her rifle scope on McInnes's hand in order to see when he "fired," and then have to take time to refocus on the person whom he was aiming at in order to shoot. Not that this occurred to me while listening to the scene, mind you! I don't remember... if he said the word "bang" or something like that (I don't remember if he did or not) then I guess she wouldn't have needed to watch his hand.

Yes, "Bang" was the trigger word while Sarge was lining up her shots and prompting McInnes via earpiece. It was the 1.5 second delay between "bang" and "splat".
