We had some long discussions about the final episode, particularly how to handle the scene between Thomas and Doreen. The final edited version was toned down because the actual performance was difficult to take. On paper is one thing, but when you have two good actors putting the meat on the bones, there is a realism that felt over the line of "entertainment".
What did you think? We all had different takes. The scene, in its entirety, will be available in the remastered CD set, but for now - it was still a brutal scene - to write, to edit and the hear in the final mix. It felt like adding a disclaimer to the show (being a horror show) was a little less than honest in its intention, but then we didn't want to draw TOO much attention to the scene.
I'd put out my thoughts first, but I don't want to discuss this with a filter. I really want to know your reactions as listeners. Did we cross a line, did we stop too short...what do you think?

That explains it. I was worried I did a poor job and it had to be cut.
I have to agree with you, though. Everytime I listen to both the final and my input I certainly have a very visceral reaction. You did a great job and handled it quite well. Thank you for that.

I would like to say a little more about the episode when I have more time. The scene mentioned took my breath away. I admit, I wasn't expecting it and it gave me pause. That's part of the whole realism of it. This kind of thing just comes out of the blue.
But I was deeply impressed by both the writing , the acting and the way that it was handled. Incredible . The caliber and the depth of this production just keeps getting higher and higher. At first I thought this was just a fun new zombie horror podcast. But it seems to be becoming a whole lot more with each new episode.. I think that you guys should feel very proud.

Mike engineered the scene, so he gets credit for the cutting choices. I couldn't listen to the whole scene through in it's full form. Well done!

That's part of the whole realism of it. This kind of thing just comes out of the blue. Yeah. That's why I didn't want to shine a spotlight on it. It is, after all a horror show. And while it wasn't there just to scare or nauseate, I wanted listeners to be very uncomfortable and feel for Doreen and possibly understand that in this kind of crisis decent people just meltdown and become monsters. He's not even aware of what he's doing on one level... Thanks. I am so glad we had a Season Zero. I feel so much more confident with Season One having gone through all this. And yeah, I am overwhelmed by the quality of what this cast and crew have produced. I feel like they took my cheap gags and conversations and made them into real lives on the other side of reality. Thanks for listening.

damned amazing. I am completely pumped to see where this goes next, with multiple story threads that I can't wait to see where they go. The scene in question was handled well, and kudos to the actors for their delivery as I imagine that was not an easy scene to record.
